These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the relationship between Obsidian Clinics and the Obsidian Institute of Aesthetics (collectively "Obsidian", "we", "us", "our") and you, the client, student, or website visitor.
By booking a treatment, enrolling on a course, or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom.

Clinic Booking Terms
Making a Booking
Appointments may be booked via our website, by WhatsApp, or by email. All bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed only upon receipt of confirmation from us.
By booking an appointment, you confirm that:
- You are aged 18 or over (or have the written consent of a parent or guardian if aged 16–17, where treatment is legally permitted)
- The information you have provided is accurate and complete
- You have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, or contraindications
Deposits
Certain treatments may require a non-refundable booking deposit to secure your appointment. The deposit amount will be communicated at the time of booking and deducted from the treatment cost on the day of your appointment.
Late Arrival
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may be unable to carry out your full treatment, and the appointment may be forfeited without refund. We will always endeavour to accommodate minor delays where our schedule permits.
On the Day
You may be asked to complete or update a consultation and consent form before each treatment. Treatment will not proceed without your signed consent. It is your responsibility to ensure all health information provided is current and accurate.
Patch Tests & Consultations
Patch Test Requirements
A patch test is required at least 48 hours before any treatment involving tints, dyes, or other products with allergy risk (including but not limited to: lash tinting, brow tinting, and certain SPMU pigments). You must not proceed with treatment if any adverse reaction occurs.
By attending a treatment following a patch test, you confirm that no adverse reaction was observed and that you are not experiencing any signs of sensitivity.
Consultation Requirements for Injectables
All injectable treatments — including anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, lip fillers, Profhilo, and fat dissolving — require a consultation before treatment. During the consultation, your suitability for treatment will be assessed.
Treatment will not be performed where contraindications exist, including but not limited to:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active skin infection or inflammation at the treatment site
- Use of blood-thinning medications (unless cleared by your prescribing physician)
- Certain autoimmune conditions
- Unrealistic expectations that cannot be safely met
We reserve the right to decline treatment at any time where we believe it is not in your best interests, without liability to you.
All aesthetic treatments carry risk. We will explain the risks, benefits, and alternatives at your consultation. Your consent is only valid once you have received this information and had the opportunity to ask questions.
Clinic Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellation by You
We ask for a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows us to offer the slot to another client.
| Notice Given | Outcome |
|---|---|
| 48+ hours before appointment | Full refund of any deposit, or free rescheduling |
| 24–48 hours before appointment | Deposit retained; appointment may be rescheduled once |
| Less than 24 hours before appointment | Deposit forfeited; full treatment fee may be charged |
| No-show (no notice given) | Full treatment fee charged; future bookings may require prepayment |
Cancellation by Us
In the unlikely event that we must cancel your appointment, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer you the choice of a rescheduled appointment or a full refund of any payment made. We will not be liable for any loss or expense beyond the direct cost of the cancelled appointment.
Refund for Unsatisfactory Treatment
If you are unhappy with the outcome of your treatment, please contact us within 7 days of your appointment. We will endeavour to address your concerns and, where appropriate, offer a complimentary review appointment. We do not issue refunds on the basis of dissatisfaction with results where the treatment was carried out correctly and risks were discussed at consultation.
Academy Course Enrolment
Eligibility
Some of our courses have prerequisite requirements (e.g. prior qualifications or experience). It is your responsibility to ensure you meet any stated eligibility criteria before enrolling. We reserve the right to decline enrolment where prerequisites are not met.
Enrolment Confirmation
Your enrolment is confirmed upon receipt of your deposit (or full payment where no payment plan is in place) and our written confirmation by email. Until both are received, your place is not guaranteed.
Course Content & Format
We reserve the right to update course content, materials, and delivery format at any time to reflect industry developments, regulatory changes, or improvements to the learning experience. Any changes that materially affect the course you have enrolled on will be communicated to you in advance.
Scheduling
Course dates are confirmed at the time of enrolment. We will make every effort to honour scheduled dates; however, dates may occasionally be changed due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. trainer illness, venue unavailability). In such cases, an alternative date will be offered at no extra cost.
Course Deposits & Payment Plans
Deposit Requirement
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on any course. This deposit is payable at the time of enrolment and confirms your commitment to attend.
The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before your course start date, unless you are on an approved payment plan.
Payment Plans
Payment plans may be available for selected courses. Where a payment plan is agreed, instalments must be paid by the agreed dates. Failure to make a scheduled instalment may result in suspension of access to course materials and, if not remedied within 7 days of notification, cancellation of your enrolment without refund of payments already made.
Full Payment Requirement
You must have paid the course fee in full before attending the practical element of any course. Access to practical training days will not be granted until the outstanding balance is cleared.
Payment Methods
Payments are processed securely via Stripe. By making a payment, you confirm acceptance of Stripe's Terms of Service. We do not store your card details.
Course Cancellations & Transfers
Cancellation by You — Academy Courses
Your right to cancel follows this schedule:
| Notice Given Before Course Start | Outcome |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days | Full refund minus the 25% deposit |
| 14–30 days | 50% refund of balance paid (deposit not returned) |
| Less than 14 days | No refund; however, a one-time transfer to a later date may be offered at our discretion |
| Non-attendance without notice | No refund; no transfer offered |
Statutory Cancellation Rights (Consumer Contracts)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, if you enrol online, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of enrolment contract, during which you may cancel and receive a full refund — provided the course has not yet started and you have not begun accessing digital course materials.
If the course starts within the 14-day cooling-off period and you have agreed to waive your right to cancel by requesting immediate access, you may not be entitled to a full refund.
Date Transfers
You may request a transfer to a different course date, subject to availability, with at least 14 days' notice before your original course date. One complimentary transfer per enrolment. Subsequent transfers are subject to a £50 administration fee.
Cancellation by Us
If we cancel a course, you will receive a full refund of all payments made, or the option to transfer to the next available date. We will not be liable for any loss beyond the direct cost of the cancelled course (e.g. travel or accommodation costs).
Student Obligations
As a student of the Obsidian Institute of Aesthetics, you agree to:
- Attend all scheduled sessions punctually and prepared
- Treat all staff, fellow students, and models with professionalism and respect
- Follow all health and safety instructions and protocols
- Use the training environment and equipment responsibly
- Not record, photograph, or distribute course materials without written permission
- Maintain client/model confidentiality during practical sessions
- Disclose any relevant health conditions that may affect your participation
We reserve the right to remove a student from a course without refund if their conduct is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or contrary to the above obligations.
Course materials provided by the Obsidian Institute of Aesthetics are for personal study only and may not be reproduced, shared, or sold.
Certificates & Accreditation
Certificates of completion are issued upon:
- Attendance at all required training sessions
- Satisfactory completion of all practical assessments
- Full payment of course fees
Certificates will not be issued where any of the above conditions are not met. If a practical assessment is not passed, one resit opportunity may be offered at no additional cost; subsequent resits are subject to an additional fee.
Where our courses are accredited by external awarding bodies, accreditation is subject to that body's own requirements and processes. We will communicate any such requirements clearly at the time of enrolment.
